Nike: Form follows Motion @ Vitra Museum

Last Thursday I was invited to the Vitra Campus to take part in a panel discussion about the current
'Nike: Form follows Motion' exhibition together with Sergio and Mischa.
I had a great time sitting down with old friends and discussinig what we are all passionate about
and it was even more enjoyable to include a full house in the conversation.
The following day I had the chance to walk around the campus and take everything in the
exceptional sites have to offer.
It was so comforting being surrounded by the beauty of the great architecture, interior and design!
If you ever get the chance to visit, don't miss it. I can only recommend diving into this stylish world.

Prototypes, signed and game worn memorabilia, original Blue Ribbon Sports pieces, an air
cushion testing machine Frank Rudy named after his daughter Kim, hand made shoes and lasts
from the man Bill Bowerman himself, original apparel drawings by @dianekatz , correspondence
with Steve Prefontaine, vintage advertisement and so much more is featured, I could go on forever.

The exhibition is curated by Glenn Adamson and Marcella Hanika (with some kind help of
Nick Schonberger and Sara), who did a wonderful job selecting exciting key pieces to make this a
fruitful experience to anyone who wants to dive deeper and at the same time taking note not
to overwhelm the average visitor.

A very special thank you to Bao and Dominique for making this an unforgettable trip!
I had such a good time with you and appreciate you a lot for all your efforts, input and care!

See you tomorrow @ Vitra Design Museum

Nike has shaped and influenced pop culture, street style and fashion like no other sports brand.
Drawing inspiration from global street and subcultures, Nike has become a pioneer in sports fashion
across Europe.

Join us at Vitra Design Museum on 17 October for a talk in which we’ll explore the key factors that
transformed Nike's sporting goods into a culturally significant icon.

Three guests will offer unique perspectives on Nike's evolution into a subculture symbol.
Mischa Krewer, founder of the once largest German-language sneaker magazine »Sneakerized«
and managing director of the leading sneaker store 43einhalb, brings over two decades of
experience in the sneaker scene.
Sergio Muster, the visionary founder of »Sneakerness«, the world's leading sneaker and lifestyle
convention, will contribute his experiences and insights from the Europe-wide trainer community.
And yours truly, will share insights as a photographer, passionate collector and influential voice in the
German sneaker community.

The talk will be moderated by Marcella Hanika, assistant curator of the exhibition. The talk will be held in German.

From the SQ archive: Nike Air Force III from 2005

It ‚only’ took me 2 days to find this pair!

Since the Air Force III has been re-released I wanted to note that the shape has been reissued in a better way before.

Of course still not as good as the original (don’t make me find that one too in this sea of boxes 😅), but better…

It’s mind boggling to me, that the toebox shape on most reissues is still such an incredible hurdle.
What are your thoughts on the latest AFIII drop?

33 Berlin Buzzer Beaters

This summer I had the chance to work on an activation for the adidas Jabbar Hi OG Deadstock,
which I would love to share with you.
A project from the heart I worked on with some amazing people to create a small print product:
„33 Berlin Buzzer Beaters - a study of style and declaration of love to the women of Berlin.“
When I started this Zine I was enthusiastic about giving the amazing females in my community
a platform to shine. Having the opportunity to equip my network with one of my favourite
silhouette sounded like a dream.
However I was not prepared what impact shooting 33 women in less than 2 weeks would have on me.
After being on my own struggle for the past 2 years I felt separated from my communities
and started to become bitter about all the ‘isms holding me back.

But this passion project, these women gave me so much love, sense of belonging and hope for
the future I am forever grateful for their trust in me and my endeavours.

It still feels unreal that @nessunostudio @caizacaizacaiza and I rocked this in such a short time,
but I am so proud of all the participants and the final product.

Kareem Abdul Jabbars multidisciplinary life inspired me to dig deeper and ask myself and
the participants „What is success, anyway?!“

I collected a bunch of quotes from Kareem, but one stood out in particular:

„I can do something else, besides stuff a ball through a hoop. My biggest resource is my mind.“

This quote felt synonymous with the female struggle and became the inspiration for showing
the multidisciplinary success stories of the females around me.

To underline its omnipresence we chose to print it and other Jabbar quotes and barrier
breaking facts on transparent paper. And of course some catalog porn for my fellow nerds.

With the help of @robertobrundo this wonderful teaser was created to get you in the mood:

Puma Suede x SOMA Gold Monster

Maybe the only reason I am looking forward to winter is rocking these with my brown @doublegooseofficial soon!

A big thank you to @soma.shimokitazawa for sending over this stunning pair of his @puma Suedes
collaboration together with a SOMA shirt!
I was already lucky to receive a pair of the green monster Katsufumi created and am so happy to
now
also call this beauty mine.
The materials are gorgeous and the whole shoe has a great Big Daddy Kane DapperDan vibe to them.
Obvious the work of someone who has great love for the model and knows what he’s doing.

Arigato gozaimasu - I am forever grateful for my Japan sneaker fam!
