My 80s Obsessions

I have an obsessiv nature. It's all or nothing. Perfectionism is one side of this medal, loosing 

myself in details is a weird form of bliss.
Most of you know I have a sneaker obsession, but my nerdism does not stop there.
I have a penchant for most elements of the 80s especially with a HipHop history (Double Goose 
jackets, Cazal sunglasses, jewelry like namerings, cookie chains and grills, boomboxes and so on).

Here's an obsession which's seedling was planted in my teenage years, when I first watched it 

and has developed to a force in the past decade : AKIRA by Katsuhiro Otomo. 
It is the film I have probably watched the most in my life together with FANTASIA (another 

masterpiece, but from a much earlier era) and will never be able to stop praising.

It's my go-to watch if I am too lazy to decide on a movie and my favorite clothing inspo forever.

For me Katsuhiro Otomo is a genius of style and details, so it never gets boring to enjoy it over 

and over and over again.

YOU CAN HANG EVERY FRAME OF THIS MOVIE AS A PICTURE ON YOUR WALL! 
This love for details frame composition in a movie I found in the work of masterminds like Akira 

Kurosawa, makes my heart sing.

The impeccable Japanese cool of Kaneda gives me the best neo-Steve McQueen vibes.

This documentary about HipHop fashion premiered at Sundance on Jan. 24th.
Sacha Jenkins chronicles the evolution of "fresh" style and rappers' transition 
from Armani suits to B-Boy chic on stage.

Loving the Style

Passion

I am a passionate woman and a perfectionist. With everything I do,
it´s either all or nothing.
This doesn´t only mean sticking to my descitions with total
commitment, but also questioning my methods, execution and
myself. When it comes to style this means knowing it´s history and
being aware of the facts that it´s about details and subtleness.
This is why one should appreciate an original for it´s design, it´s
origin in the fine arts, social and historical context. The
interrelations of the cited above justify a product like the
Converse Chuck Tailor or a Cazal 607 to gain cult status.
Overdoing it like a russian nouveau riche or a hipster dressed in
neon coloured 80´s polyester top to bottom is just as horrific as
wearing pink laser Jordan IIIs – a typical symptom of style
plagiarism.
Good design isn´t cheap and cheap design isn´t good!
I have great respect for anybody who´s handling things that way,
but of course it´s each to their own.
A picture I saw this morning made me think about all this....



It would just drive me crazy, that the lacing is all messy!

Hair day

Life is an endless struggle full of frustrations and challenges,
but eventually you find a hair stylist you like. Today, I finally
got some time to go to the Hairdresser again and because it
was so overdue I made 2 appointments.
First my trusted hair surgeon Vidal Sassoon who´s been through
better and worse with me, to get back to my original colour



then a cutting specialist, my friend Sven recommended me,
who could well become a new hair affair since it is pretty
close by and a lovely team of young stylists; Haartari.



As I arrived 30min early I spend my time waiting looking through
Sassoon´s history of styles, thinking of a lovely quote by
Alexander Pope: " Beauty draws us with a single hair."
