adidas Collectors Project
The adidas Collectors Project brought five of the world's most dedicated and knowledgeable three stripe
collectors together at adidas global HQ in Herzogenaurach. Visiting Adi Dassler's home, the Scheinfeld
prototyping facility and the legendary archive, they exchanged knowledge and stories with the adidas
History and Archive teams, as well as the Originals design team.
Five collectors – residing in the UK, US, Japan, Germany and Finland - were invited to participate, each
bringing their own approach, understanding and cultural context to the project.
Ralf Tiittanen's unrivalled catalogue collection, Robert Brooks’ deep passion for technical runners of the
‘80s and ‘90s and Mr Magara’s broad understanding of vintage Americana all informed the project.
Operator Emz and Sneakerqueen also brought two different viewpoints on adidas’ storied role in New York
hip-hop culture; one experienced firsthand in the Bronx and one admired from afar in Berlin.
In return for sharing their knowledge with adidas and allowing us to document their own personal archives,
each collector was given the opportunity to rework their favourite archive model for an extremely limited
release.
Put together in collaboration with the Originals design team, the resulting pack has been produced in
premium materials, whilst paying great respect to the original silhouettes.
Dropping on October 26th, the pack will available in pop-up exhibitions being installed in five retail
destinations, soon to be announced.
