The Adidas Archive Book

After all the years of hard work it's finally here:
The Adidas Archive Book.
The adidas story is one of groundbreaking designs, epic moments
and conceiving the all-around sports shoe, worn by the likes of
Lionel Messi, Run DMC, and Madonna. A mecca for sneaker fans,
this book presents adidas’s history through more than 350 pairs of
shoes from the “adidas Archive”, including one-of-a-kind originals,
vintage models, never-before-seen prototypes, and designs from
Stella McCartney, Yohji Yamamoto, Parley for the Oceans, and
more.

The ABCs of Style

October has some real gems waiting for us! First the Contact High Project
will finally release their beautiful book, I already pre-ordered, now Testify
Books follows with The ABCs of Style, a Graffiti Alphabet!

Filled with 26 colorful marker drawings contributed by some of graffiti
art's ultimate style masters, The ABCs of Style is part children's book,
part adult art primer, tracking the evolution of graffiti letterforms.
Each letter of the alphabet has been rendered by a different artist, with
work from renowned writers Blade, Lee, Daze, Fuzz One, Haze, Jester,
Doc, Ces, Cey, Trike, Part, Reas, Wane, SP, Keo, Queen Andrea and many
others.
Their styles range from early Bubble and Stick styles all the way to Wild
style and beyond. But despite all these previously unseen original works,
this book is not only for graffiti aficionados and art lovers. Both kids and
parents can appreciate the book's rhythmic, happy verse that concludes
with a gentle exhortation to rest. As appropriate on a coffee table as on
a bunk bed, The ABCs of Style is truly art for everyone.

True Originals Book

In October 2013, Marlon Knispel from Berlin contacted Ernie Beckmannand asked him if
he wanted to contribute to his planned adidas book "True Originals".
The book should be a homage to the good times of adidas, in which the best adidas
models (his opinion) from 1970 to 1993 would be presented. Since Marlon is of the
opinion that he himself is not able to write texts, he asked Ernie if he could put his
interviews and research results in a textual form and translate it to English.
He was interested and we went to work. The result is a book that will be released next
September.
In order to be able to pay the printing, Marlon needed about € 3000, which we wanted to
collect on kickstarter.
The goal has already been reached, but feel free to contribute.

They are happy about any kind of support.... financially or by sharing the kickstarter page
on your social media feeds...

Rivalry Love

Here is one of my pictures from the AOA top5 Vol. 2 book.
The adidas Rivalry Hi has a special place in my collector's heart.
It was the first adidas high top that sparked my interest as a teenager.
Seeing my older sister's friends rocking the white and grey colourway,
watching RUN DMC and what the band contributed to the evolution of
style in the hip hop communities worldwide with their collection;
all had a great influence on the way I perceived fashion and sneaker as
a social code and status symbol.
These are all the vintage Rivalrys that inspired me to my final shoe
collaboration with adidas (in the front) plus a sample in the background
with a different try on the snakeskin.

The Encyclopedia of Air Jordans

The Encyclopedia of Air Jordans, which began as a Kickstarter project,
is now getting a proper retail release.
The book was created by noted sneaker collector Jay Lawrence, who
sought to document every single Air Jordan sneaker out there for the
volume. The hardcover book features over 500 pages of history, photos,
price guides, and more on Air Jordans spanning the line's 30-year history.
The book begins at the Air Jordan 1 and stops at the Air Jordan XX9, as
the chapter of the latest MJ signature is still being written.
Villa has released The Encyclopedia of Air Jordans this month.
A restock is expected soon

Shirt Kings Book

I've Blogged ybout Dapper Dan and The Mighty Shirt Kings before.
Now a book is finally realeasing soon! A definite must have for me

Artist: Edwin PHADE Sacasa
Photography: Alain KET Mariduena
Language: Engelska
Pages: 144
Size: 21,5 x 28x 3 cm
Cover: Hard cover
Release date: 2013-04-15
ISBN: 978-91-85639-57-1

Jamaica, Queens, New York in the mid 1980s. Rappers and hip hop fans
came from all over the city to get their own customized T-shirt by The
Mighty Shirt Kings. The style traveled all over the world through record
covers and music videos, and the Shirt Kings designs soon became
synony- mous with Hip Hop and the culture of making something out of
nothing. Shirt Kings – Pioneers of Hip Hop Fashion looks at the early
days of urban fashion through the lens of the pioneering group of artists
known as the Shirt Kings. By adapting the graffiti skills from the trains
and spray cans to shirts and airbrush they created a new look for a new
generation.
Edwin PHADE Sacasa is a founding artist of the group and it is through
his archives that we are transported to the 1980s in NYC where the
fashion was loud, colorful, and filled with cartoon im- agery; but not just
any cartoon imagery for the cartoons where urbanized. Mickey Mouse
with a Fila suit, Casper the Friendly Ghost with gold teeth and Pink
Panther with gold chains. People from across the city made their way to
Jamaica, Queens to a small shopping mall known as the Coliseum where
you could easily bump into the biggest names in Hip Hop of the day.
From DJ Red Alert to LL Cool J to Big Daddy Kane to Mike Tyson
– they all had to have their Shirt Kings designs.
Shirt Kings – Pioneers of Hip Hop Fashion chronicles the art, the styles,
and the people who where loyal supporters of the Shirt Kings, and takes
us on a trip down memory lane to when cus- tomization and art reigned
supreme in New York City.

Art & Sole Nike Cortez iD Project

Back in 2008, Innercity Design released a sneaker-themed art book
entitled
Art & Sole. The book evolved into a blog, which has in turn
given a spotlight to sneaker-inspired art and new collaborations with
the hottest designers and artists.
The whole thing comes full circle with the book’s mini format releasing
in conjunction with the
Art & Sole x Nike Cortez iD Project, a quartet
of Try-On grey colorups that add a contrasting sockliner that coordinates
with each respective pair’s associated artwork.
The super-limited 40-pair-per-color run just finished up its four-day
staggered release on Tuesday, the contributing artists’ work will remain
on display at NIKEiD Studio Boxpark through April
